After this, you will be able to use your headset to take videos and screenshots. Once you are done, you can start casting your video to your TV.
Logging in with your Facebook account
Oculus Quest 2 users will no longer be required to sign in with their Facebook account to use the headset. This is because the Oculus app now allows users to link their account to the social network instead.
While the social media giant recently removed the Facebook login from its VR platform, the requirement still exists for some legacy Oculus accounts. It is unclear how long these accounts will be able to continue to work.
While it’s not a necessity for the Oculus Quest 2 to run, the ability to sign in with your Facebook account will still make it easier to find friends in the VR world. The company recently announced plans to roll out a new type of account.
According to Meta, the new’meta’ account is more than a simple login. As a result of the changes, Quest and Quest 2 users with Facebook accounts will need to migrate to a ‘Meta’ account.
To create a’meta’ account, you’ll need to register an account with either your email address or Facebook. Once you’ve created your account, you’ll need to set up your device.
You’ll also need to download the Oculus app. The app is available for both Android and iOS. Then you’ll need to enter your headset code. After entering the code, you’ll be prompted to pair your phone with the headset.
When you pair your phone, you’ll need to choose a name that is the same as your real name. In addition, you’ll need to select the “People” tab to make it easier to see who your friends are online.
Once you’ve completed the process, you can access the VR world with the Oculus mobile app. You can also shop for apps and games through the Oculus Store.
Activating the headset
Oculus Quest 2 is one of the best VR headsets for your money. For under $300, you get a headset with two controllers and immersive audio. Plus, you also get $30 in Oculus Store Credit.
To activate the headset, you’ll need to link it to a PC. This can be done by using the desktop app or by linking it via Air Link. If you don’t have a PC, you can use an AirLink cable to connect your Quest to a smart TV.
You can also use your mobile device to control the headset. In addition, the app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
The headset has a power button on the right side. Press it for two seconds to turn on. Once you hear the chime, release the button. It will light up to indicate the headset is on.
After the headset is on, you should start the Oculus Quest app. In the App Settings, go to Devices. Select the “Oculus Link” option.
Next, choose your device. On the next screen, you’ll be prompted to set up your Oculus account. Be sure to enter your organization name and the password you’ve chosen.
Before you can play your first game, you’ll need to connect your Quest to your computer. Ideally, you’ll use a USB-C cable. However, you can also use an ethernet cable if your router is capable of it.
There are some other settings you’ll need to adjust to make your VR experience easier. In particular, you should turn off auto-wake. Also, be sure to check your chat settings.

Taking screenshots

Alternatively, you can share your screenshots through the Oculus companion app. You’ll then see your uploaded media in the gallery tab of the app.
Casting to a TV
If you want to watch your Oculus Quest 2 on your television, you will need to enable the casting function. You can do this from the Oculus app on your phone or using your PC. Depending on your computer, you may need to download some additional software.
Casting to a TV with an Oculus Quest 2 is simple, but there are a few extra steps that you must take. You will need to ensure that your device is on the same Wi-Fi network as your television. Also, your device should be in the same input. To confirm that you have the correct input, open the Oculus App and go to settings.
Once you have the Oculus App open, you will see the Screen Mirroring icon. To mirror your screen to your TV, select the icon. Then, you will need to select the code in sharing.
To cast your Oculus Quest 2 to your television, you will need to make sure that both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. You will also need to ensure that the Oculus App has the permission to connect to your wireless network.

The Oculus Quest comes with a storage capacity of 256GB. But that doesn’t mean you can’t sync videos to your phone. In fact, you can upload your own content to Facebook and YouTube.
When you’re ready to share your work, you can click the “Share” icon to open the Sharing menu. This will allow you to do everything from casting your video to your TV to taking a picture of your screen.
While you’re there, you may want to try the new 16:9 recording feature that was recently added. With this option, you can create square videos that are perfect for TikTok and Instagram. Before, only third-party software was available to record such videos.
